Behind The Number
How results work.
Three things happen the moment you cross the mat, and none of them need you to do anything.
The RFID chip
A passive tag is laminated to the back of your bib. It has no battery and no button. When you pass over a mat it is energised by the antenna for a fraction of a second and reports its own number. Start mat, finish mat, and a split mat if the course has one.
The live kiosk
A screen at the finish festival updates as runners come in. Type your bib, see your place. It is the fastest way to know whether you need to stay for awards, and it stays up until the last finisher is scored.
The text message
If you gave a mobile number at registration, a text lands with your chip time, overall place and pace, usually before you have found your shoes bag. The link in it opens the full public results page.
The read
The kiosk tent
The text
Chip time versus gun time. Gun time starts for everyone at the horn. Chip time starts when you personally cross the start mat. If you lined up four rows back, those are different numbers, and the chip time is the honest one. Overall awards are usually scored on gun time, because that is who actually crossed first. Age group awards are scored on chip time. We print both.

Help
Can't find your time?
Nine times out of ten it is one of four things, and all four are fixable.
- You registered under a different name. Search by bib number instead. It is printed on your bib and on your confirmation email.
- You swapped bibs with someone. The chip follows the bib, not the runner. Tell us both numbers and we will correct the record.
- Your bib was folded or pinned through the chip. Send us your bib number and we will review the race records and correct your time where we can.
- You crossed with the untimed family wave. Those runners are recorded as finishers but not scored. We can still confirm you finished.
Email runrooracing@gmail.com with your race, your bib number and your approximate finish time. Corrections are reviewed and posted as quickly as possible.
